This tartan, Manchester Blues, was launched by Bernard Halford, Life President of Manchester City Football Club on 22nd July 2011 in Selkirk. The tartan was designed to commemorate scotsman Bobby Johnstone, one of Manchester City's famous players. He became the first player to score in consecutive FA Cup finals at Wembley. The colours used in the design were also chosen to reflect the Joe Mercer era at the club, when City used these colours they won the FA Cup in 1969, The League Cup in 1970 and The European Cup also in 1970.
(Manchester Blues Tartan is registered with the Scottish Tartans Authority and also the Scottish Register of Tartans. Tartan Patent No 4018114 and Trade Mark No 25541000)
