MacRae Hunting Grey is a grey-based tartan with tonal overchecks. Kintail is the home of the MacRae’s and is where they migrated in the 14th century. The MacRaes were Jacobites and served the Royal Stuarts faithfully and well. Duncan MacRae, 5th of Kintail, received the lands of Inverinate in around 1557. At the Battle of Sheriffmuir, in 1715, their bravery was outstanding and many of the leading men were killed.
